Dave and Melissa,

Dave and Melissa Russell started with cattle on the family's land. The lavender came later, as an experiment in one short row, and got out of hand: three hundred rows now, hand-harvested every summer and distilled in the barn. The cut-flower rows followed the lavender.
The barbecue was never a business decision. It's just how the family has always cooked, and one summer enough people asked that we started setting long tables out in the field.
That's the whole farm, really: flowers, longhorns, live fire, and a standing invitation.
02 · Three trades, one hill
What we actually do.
Everything at the farm stand starts in one of these three places.
Lydia's Lavender
Three hundred rows, cut by hand each summer and distilled on site. It becomes the soaps, the soaks, the honey and the tea.
From the pit
Pasture-raised beef and hickory smoke, the way the Russells have always done it. Now it feeds a hundred people at a time.
The herd
Registered Texas Longhorns, bred gentle. Full pedigrees and animals for sale live on our longhorn site.
